ENTRIES close today for the Greens' Bad Developer Awards or "Toasters", nicknamed after the controversial East Circular Quay development, which allow individuals and groups to nominate the worst property developments and developers in the past year.
Unsurprisingly Wollongong leads the nominations so far for the titles of worst developer, worst development and worst council.
Other nominees include the V8 Supercars race at Sydney Olympic Park, and proposed residential developments at Currawong on Pittwatter, the Balmain Tigers Club and the University of Technology Sydney site at Lindfield, and residential subdivisions approved at Catherine Hill Bay and Sandon Point. "The awards are an opportunity to hit back at the developers who are destroying our environment, heritage and local amenity and give them the public razzing they deserve," the Toasters' founder, NSW Greens MP Sylvia Hale said.
The "winners" will be announced on Thursday night.
