THE Aussi Masters are beginning to settle back into normal club nights with the reopening of the ALAC pool.
Several members found the enforced lay-off hard to shake with many waiting “until the weather warms”.
What they don’t realise is the new pool has a cosy temperature since the renovations.
It’s no problem to wander around waiting for the next swimming heat just wrapped in a towel.
Those who have been training are now starting to produce better results.
Marg Feldman, who did so well at the World Masters in April, produced a great result with a club record and personal best in the 200m backstroke.
She broke the late Bonnie Smith’s long-standing record by 3.88 seconds.
Others to show a return to form with personal bests were Tony Stanton in the 50m and 100m backstroke and 200m freestyle, Sandy Laurens and Kaye Bolger (50m backstroke and 200m freestyle), Joy Humphreys (50m breaststroke), Shiralee Hanna and Esther Marklew (50m backstroke), Mike Baker (100m backstroke) and Maureen Hanna and Sue Baker (200m freestyle).
The club is looking forward to next weekend when a team of seven women and four men head to Challenge Stadium in Perth for the State Short Course Championships.
