THE Albany Boardriders Club is preparing to take surfing to the community after receiving a LotteryWest grant.
A LotteryWest grant of $4,000 is being used to construct a trailer to take safety equipment and boards to beaches along the south coast to promote surf riding.
“Through the success of our work, we have been promised follow-up funding for future events,” Albany Boardriders Club president Mark Weller said.
“The new trailer will help us promote surfing by accessing all beaches.”
The family orientated club, which has more than 100 members, is preparing for stronger community links, including work with disability support groups.
Since it was established 12 months ago, the club has organised the last two Wavefests, children’s surf camps and a retro surf competition.
