ALBANY’S netballers produced plenty of action again at the weekend.
In the Vibes B1 division, Royals Saints6 clashed with Royal Saints7 in a great game.
Royals6 Jessica Muir shot beautifully, while Royal Saints’ Gemma Wray played brilliantly in defence and Emily Barnes’ centre court play was extremely hard to beat.
Royals Saints6 won the game 26-10.
On the outside courts in blustery, cold conditions, Jokers8 came up against Grammar4.
In the first quarter, Grammar4 was on fire and ended it with a substantial lead.
Jokers8 played an excellent team game and never gave up, but the final score went to Grammar 33-30.
The next time these teams clash should be a beauty.
In the B2 division, Jokers9 came up against Narrikup6.
The game was goal-for-goal until Narrikup gained the lead through Liane Baysten with some extremely accurate shooting. Amy Coyne also put in a great effort for Narrikup, helping her team to a 43-24 victory.
In the B3 division, Bethel played Royals Saints9.
Bethel led the way early, proving too strong for their opponents.
Bethel’s Bethany Castlehow and Kaysen Douglas both played a fantastic game, while Royals’ Mollie Forbes and Darcie Sutcliffe put in some great performances.
Although the score was one-sided, at 37-7 to Bethel, it certainly didn’t reflect the game on court.
Well done to Royals for not giving up and holding Bethel in the second half.
Also in B3, Narrikup7 played Grammar7 in a very fast-paced game.
Grammar dominated the play with excellent defence from Georgie Bennet, while Georgina Golling and Laura Wishart combined beautifully and shot well. Grammar won 48-15.
There will be no netball this weekend due to a general bye and will resume on Friday, July 18.
Umpiring sessions resume on Saturday, July 19, from 9.45am to 10.15am.
These free sessions are extremely informative and suitable for all players and parents. All you need is a whistle, water bottle and joggers.
