ALBANY Table Tennis Club enjoyed some well-deserved success at the recent State and Country Championships.

Albany beat Busselton’s first team 6-3 and second team 6-4 in the preliminary rounds, but was soundly beaten in the final by Geraldton 6-1.

As well as reaching the semi-final of the State U15s Boys Doubles tournament, Mark Inglis reached the quarter-final of the boys singles at his first attempt.

Ricky Weight got as far as the quarter-finals in the Men’s U21s singles and was narrowly beaten in the doubles final with partner Jeff Ng 9-11, 11-8, 11-5, 7-11, 11-8.

However, Weight had his day when he won the B-Grade State Men’s Doubles with Des Devine of Mandurah.

In the Men’s Over 70s singles competition, resident Level 3 coach Peter Muller won the only match against Geraldton in the teams final.
