THE Albany Swim Club’s 2009 season kicked off last Friday night with timed trials at Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre.
The club has gained many new members following registrations on May 22 and there are high hopes for good results at major competitions later in the year.
The club’s dolphin or junior group has been boosted with total club membership exceeding 80.
The club hopes to attract more members at the Sun Smart sponsored Try Swim carnival on Sunday, July 5.
Brendan Robb said the inaugural event would start at 10am with invitations to anyone wanting to have a go at competition.
There will be lots of activities and fun for all with a healthy morning tea provided. The club’s timed trials will continue throughout June as a lead-up to the 2009 Sun Smart Albany Swim Short Course Carnival on July 11 and 12.
This is a Swimming WA sanctioned event and is attended by swimmers from Perth and other regional centres.
Last Friday’s event included 400 metre and 50 metre trials.
