Surfboats in control at Mutton Bird

21 Jan, 2010 10:25 AM
ALBANY Surf Life Saving Club hosted a surfboat regatta with crews from across the state on Saturday.

Boat crews gathered on Mutton Bird Beach from Esperance, Geraldton and Perth to compete in the day-long event.

Albany women’s team finished fourth in the open division. Albany’s men failed to make their finals, but after being together for only six months they were happy with their effort.

The women’s team will now compete in Bunbury this weekend and the state country championships in mid-February.

The North Cottesloe Merkins crew won the men’s open race, but it was the Cottesloe SLSC which dominated the other races.

Cottesloe Indianna won the Open Women’s event, the Combined U-19s and U-23s Men event went to Cottesloe Des and Troy, and the Under-23 Womens to Cottesloe Indianna.
