THE second stage of the Albany Revolver Club’s June trophy shoot at Mutton Bird range on June 21 saw the smallest field for a club event this year.
This followed the cancellation of the first stage a fortnight earlier because of the poor weather.
Despite the strong winds once again affecting the shoot, it was still able to be held. Although conditions were challenging, resulting in lower scores, three qualifiers made it into the “500” club.
They were George Franey, top overall with 528.7 in rim fire, followed by Brian Bolton (518.6) and Andrew Adams with 503.3 in centre fire.
The first event over 50m was led by Andrew Adams with 93.2, and he then shared 25m offhand on 87 with George Franey. At 15m timed, George Franey led on 91.1 and Brian Bolton led rapid fire with 88.2.
Bolton continued to lead for 10m multi-target with 86.1, leaving Ron Thomas to lead rapid with 96.4. George Franey placed nearest to nominated score with his 528 to a nominated 523.
