MORE than 30 competitors took part in the recent skate and BMX competition at the Denmark Skate and BMX Park.
Sixteen-year-old local Tim Hill stepped up to compete in the open division with older skaters and won first place with what judges described as a “flawless technical, transitional and super smooth street style”.
Mathew Dye (12) from Albany took the big step up from beginners to compete in the intermediate division and took home a third placing.
Event organiser Aaron Bailey said the competition was a great way for young people to display their talent, style and fitness in a friendly but competitive atmosphere.
The event attracted competitors’ families and friends who enjoyed the day’s festivities.
Local youth worked as volunteers, assisting with the event set up, provision of refreshments and the clean up at the end of the day.
