SUNCORP Bank is on the hunt for inspirational Great Southern children to become ball kids at Wallabies domestic test matches this season.

Suncorp general manager Banking, Terry Wasmund urged anyone who knew a child with a big heart to nominate them, as time is fast running out to attend the first two rugby union tests in Melbourne and Sydney.

To be nominated, children must be aged between 8 and 15 years and have shown great courage, helped out in the community, or overcome a challenge.

“Children can be nominated up until August 2 for the additional three home tests being played later in the year in Sydney, Perth and Brisbane,” Mr Wasmund said.

“The ball kid experience includes a family trip to one of this year’s biggest matches, the chance to meet Wallabies players, see the exclusive pre-match training session and of course, for the winning child, to be a ball kid on match day.

“The announcement of the first two ball kids for the tests in Melbourne and Sydney will be made next week, so I encourage Great Southern residents to nominate a deserving kid to win this once-in-a-lifetime Wallabies experience.”

Wallaby Berrick Barnes said he was looking forward to having courageous kids helping the team this year.

“Too often sporting stars are described as heroes, but when you think about kids overcoming challenges, they are the real heroes,” Barnes said.

“When we play our matches this year I hope we perform with the same guts and determination these kids show every day.”

In addition to performing official ball kid duties, the winning child will win two nights’ accommodation for a family of four, three tickets to the game, and the opportunity to meet the team during a pre-test training session.

They will also have an official photograph taken with the players and get to keep their Suncorp Bank Wallabies ball kids’ uniform, which includes boots, jersey, shorts, cap and socks.

Suncorp Bank is giving away five of these packages which begin with the June 20 clash against Italy in Melbourne.

There will also be 50 runner-up prizes.

To nominate a child you think deserves the prize, visit suncorp.com.au/ballkids and tell their story in 100 words.
