Revolver up and down

GEORGE Franey excelled himself in rimfire division to set a new record this year with 551 from a possible 600 points at the Albany Revolver Club shoot at Mutton Bird Range on Sunday, April 19.

But by contrast in centre fire, Franey fell well below his usual level to eighth place.

Competition was strong in rimfire generally, with a score of 240 being needed just to make the top 10, while four competitors qualified for the 500 club.

The new toilet and shower facility is progressing well, thanks to an almost solo effort by lMartin McKenna, who has made this a special project. Members will construct a retaining wall behind this facility.

Event winners were Mick McDonnell (50m and 25m with 94.2 and 92 respectively, Brian Bolton (15m timed on 95.2), Lynd Polain (15m rapid on 93.2) tied with Bill Wellington for 10m rapid, both returning the possible 100. Coralie Cagnana matched her nominated score of 370.

The first stage of the May shoot will be on Sunday, May 3.
