ALBANY Revolver Club’s July trophy competition ended on the 19th. Once again, good weather prevailed following the heavy rain of the previous two days.

Club champion George Franey led the day, scoring a total of 542.1 in the rimfire division, which also won him nearest to his nominated score of 537. In centrefire, Brian Bolton led with 531.12.

At 50metres Franey scored 92, while at 25m Bolton notched up 84. In the 15m event, Franey again led both the timed and rapid fire events with 95.1 and 94.1 respectively.

Mick Thomas led 10m multi-target on 92.1 and Bill Wellington took out 10m rapid fire with 99.8.

The club will host the WA State revolver and mandar titles over the weekend of October 10 and 11. This year will also see the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Albany Branch of the Sporting Shooters of Australia. The first stage of the club’s August shoot will be held at Mutton Bird Range on Sunday, August 2.
