YOUNG netballers have been competing with great spirit in the Albany Netball Association fixtures and the D4 game between Royals Saints13 and Royals Saints14 was no exception at the Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre on Saturday.
Royals13 moved the ball efficiently into their attacking end with Rebecca Berg from Royals 14 intercepting any wayward passes.
Emmerson Robb, playing goal attack for Royals14, showed she is a speedy athlete with a flair for the game.
The final score saw a win to Royals13 by nine goals to three.
In the D3 division, the game between Narrikup12 and Royals12 started with a very tight first quarter, resulting in a two to three score line at quarter time.
A milestone was reached by Rachel Webb, goal shooter for Narrikup, early in the second quarter, when she scored her first goal for the season.
Royals’ shooters, Havanna Gill and Anita Onions, worked together extremely well for their team which went on to win 19 to 7.
Narrikup was well supported by two very young players, Ella Ruland and Cleo Bigwood, who were playing up from the Net-Set-Go division.
The other D3 game between Kangas7 and Cranbrook3 was a very slow-scoring affair.
Many training skills were being practised by both teams and their training is certainly paying off with a huge improvement since the start of the season.
Darcy Piercey and Maicee Taylor of Kangas both played an exceptional game. Cranbrook went on to win the game 11 to 5.
There was a fast-paced game in the B1 division between Royals6 and Grammar4.
Great defence and many interceptions by Libby Cook and Georgia Oreo for Royals saw their team take the early lead.
Amber Gordon showed she is a very valuable player by moving well all over the court.
By half time, Royals had a lead of nine goals.
Hannah Parsons, centre for Grammar, played very well for her team and was involved in numerous attacking moves towards goal.
But it wasn’t enough as Royals went on to win the match 43 to 16.
