 Plenty of spark on court

Plenty of spark on court

31/07/2008 8:52:00 AM
SATURDAY saw another busy afternoon of netball on the ALAC courts.

In the Bodycare B2 division, Bullets6 came up against Jokers9.

Unfortunately, Bullets were undermanned with only five players taking to the court.

However, the team played extremely well and never looked like giving up.

Jokers played a great team game, with excellent moving in the circle from Ella Jane Williams and Summer Neale.

Well done to the Bullets’ defence, who made some great efforts.

Although the 37-9 score appears a little one-sided, it certainly was not indicative of the effort applied.

In the Ironmonger Building Company A4 division, Grammar3 came up against Royal Saints5.

This game was a real spectators delight.

Grammar hit the court with high energy and fired away to take a good lead at the first break 10-2.

Royals pulled together and by half-time had reduced the margin to two goals, thanks to accurate shooting from Bonnie Ralph and Jacinta Barrett.

Grammar maintained a tight defence and a fast attack which was strongly supported by Georgie Moselin.

To Royals’ credit they persisted throughout the game with a high level of motivation. Tenika Ugle was one player who really tried her hardest.

The final score went Grammar’s way 45-27.

Another exciting divisional game was fought between Narrikup5 and Grammar2.

Narrikup started strongly with accurate shooting and good positional play.

In the second half, Narrikup made some position changes which offset the balance and allowed Grammar to get into the game.

However, Narrikup were too strong and the talented team continued to lead the game.

The final score was 43-15 to Narrikup.

Well done to Narrikup’s Jemma Goodliffe and Katie Mills and Grammar’s Nicole Nield for their great performances.

In the Albany Surf and Skate A3 division, Grammar1 came up against Jokers6 in a close, hard-fought game.

Jokers took the lead in the first quarter and by half-time were ahead by a slim margin of three goals.

Grammar came back in the third quarter and the level of play escalated through to the final whistle when Jokers held on to win 31-27.

Well done to all players from both teams.

The netball umpiring sessions are still being conducted every Saturday morning.

However, the time has changed from 11am to 11.30am.

These free sessions are extremely valuable and informative and suitable for all players and parents.

All you need is a whistle, a water bottle and joggers.

A big thanks to everyone for providing game information, it is extremely appreciated.

14/11/2008 | There isn't any doubt any more about whether Deputy PM, Julia Gillard, has the killer instinct. The problem tends more to be how to drag her off the victim's body.
