Fun run a success

A RECORD field of 460 people participated in the Verve Energy Port to Point Fun Run on Sunday morning.

Despite the blustery conditions, overall winner Darren McDonald covered the 10km distance from Anzac Peace Park to Emu Point in 38 minutes three seconds.

He won by eight seconds from Rowan Burton with Rob Badger a further three seconds behind.

The first female home was Belinda Ross (42m28s), 10 seconds before Andrea Campbell.

A large number of participants took part in the 4.5km course from Ellen Cove, with junior Connor Gleave winning in 17m33s.

Other winners were: 10km: Hayden Dennis (1st Junior Male), Lucy Murray (1st Junior Female). 4.5km: David Willmar (1st Adult Male), Natasha Hare (1st Adult Female), Maddison Taylor (1st Junior Female).

The Port to Point was first held in 1977.
