SUNDAY, May 3, saw the commencement of the second stage of Albany Revolver Club’s May trophy shoot, with a strong field of shooters at Mutton Bird range.
Once again, ideal conditions prevailed with high scores generally attained.
As at the last shoot, George Franey held the lead in the rimfire division but overall, was slightly down on his previous level.
However, he still held top gun on 535.14, while centrefire went to Bill Wellington with 509.9.
Franey also placed nearest to his nominated score of 537.
The first event of 50m was lead by Russ Thomas on 93.3, followed by Franey at 25m with 92.1.
At 15m, Bill Wellington led both timed on 89 leaving Franey to top 10m rapid with 99.7.
At the committee meeting following the shoot, planning began for hosting this year’s WA Championships in revolver and mandar events, at Mutton Bird in October.
This will be the second state title event held in Albany this year, following lever-action rifle on the Foundation Day weekend.
