Wettest September?

ALBANY is heading for one of its wettest Septembers with more rain predicted this weekend.

Only about 23mm is needed for it to reach the highest monthly rainfall level of 155.6mm which was recorded in 2003.

Up until September 23, Albany had received 132.2mm on all but two days, with the highest of 15mm on September 8.

In 2008, 95.2mm was recorded for the whole month.

Albany has also been chilly with a mean daily temperature of 16.4C, nearly one degree below the average lowest daily temperature for September of 17.3C.

The coldest day was on September 21 (12.4C) and highest of 20.7C on September 17.

Last year, September’s average daily temperature was 17.5C (highest 27.4C and the lowest minimum of 5C).

Average minimum so far is 8.8C with the lowest overnight recorded of 6.5C on September 12 and 22.

Further inland, the rainfall figures fall away, with Albany Airport recording 98.4mm and Mt Barker 79.8mm (near the average of 81mm), although Rocky Gully has received 102.2mm (72mm average) and Windy Harbour 130.2mm (84mm average).
