ALBANY echoed the State trend by recording one of its warmest Mays in years.
The average maximum daily temperature of 20.5 degrees was 1.6 degrees above average, with the highest of 24.9 degrees recorded on May 4.
However, overnight temperatures were cooler with the average minimum of 8 degrees, 1.9 degrees below average.
Rainfall for May was 66.6mm, with more than half recorded on May 23 (35.2mm).
The monthly figure was 29 per cent lower than average, adding to the year’s total of 1919.6mm, which is 43mm (18 per cent) below average.
The region remained dry, with Salmon Gums typical, receiving just two millimetres, its lowest total for May in 77 years of records.
Perth experienced its warmest May days for at least 15 years, according to weatherzone.com.au.
The city had an average maximum of 24 degrees, above the long-term normal of 22.
Weatherzone is expecting a return to closer to normal rainfall over the next few months, with temperatures likely to continue above average through winter, particularly by day.
