ALBANY has been placed firmly on the world’s centre stage by a local tourism industry group.
Skål International Albany was named the Skål Club of Year at the opening ceremony of the 70th Skål International Congress being held in the Hungarian capital of Budapest.
Skål Albany, which recently held its third birthday, has been a Skål success story and won the coveted award from more than 500 clubs worldwide.
President Noelene Evans received the award before the 1000 delegates attending the congress on Monday.
Skål Albany club secretary Gaynor Clarke said the win was an outstanding achievement for Albany with all members playing an integral role in the clubs’ success.
“We’re a passionate, dynamic and fun-loving bunch of tourism and travel operators,” she said.
“This win guarantees the club’s viability well into the future and will attract significant worldwide attention for our part of Western Australia.”
Founded in 1932, Skål is a professional organisation of tourism leaders around the world, promoting global tourism and friendship. It is the only international group uniting all branches of the travel and tourism.
