Sun shines for car enthusiasts

THE Great Southern Street Machine Association’s 2009 Show ‘n’ Shine proved to be a great success on the weekend.

Helped by warm spring weather, a large crowd of car enthusiasts enjoyed a well-presented display of all kinds of vehicles on Sunday at Railways Football Club.

This followed the initial burn-out competition at Albany Speedway on Saturday night.

GSSMA president Vince Ruffo said he was extremely pleased with the support given to the event by both locals and visitors to Albany.

“The burn-out competition was better than we expected,” he said.

“Several thousand people watched 30 cars compete for the prize money which was shared around.

“It was absolutely phenomenal. We are pleased to see that sort of support for a first-up event.”

Mr Ruffo said there was plenty to attract car enthusiasts on Sunday with new exhibitors and the return of several favourites.
