Spooky way to expose talents

02 Jul, 2009 09:14 AM
TWENTY-five ordinary men lowered their defences and showed their extraordinary singing talents at Albany Town Hall on Saturday night.

The Spooky Men of the West were backed by local group, Southern Right Males.

Their a capella singing ranged from classic “barber-shop” songs to Georgian folk songs.

The concert supported the Albany Mens Resource Centre and was part of The Big Trill Festival weekend presented by Vancouver Arts Centre.

The Spooks backed up their concert with a singing workshop on Sunday morning.

The 10-member SRM formed after the Spooks visited Albany last year.

Performing for the first time on the “big stage”, they gave an enthusiastic audience what they wanted, with fun renditions of a variety of songs.

The combined group finale ensured the audience went home in a good mood.
