Silent protest

04 Feb, 2010 11:07 AM
THE community has taken it upon itself to make a statement over the lack of development on the former Esplanade Hotel site at Middleton Beach.

Socks of all sizes and shapes now adorn the wire fence, and their numbers have been growing by the day.

When the wind blows, the socks fly like flags and create a colourful sight against the background of the abandoned, sandy block.

The City of Albany says very little can be done to speed up the development by the Singaporean owners after they promised construction would commence within months of the Esplanade and the Extravaganza being demolished three years ago.
