WARM weather prompted the long-necked turtles of Lake Seppings to undertake their annual journey to lay eggs last week.
The trip across Golf Links Road near Lake Seppings was often interrupted by passing vehicles which did well to avoid hitting the protected species.
Many drivers pulled to the side of the road to allow the turtles to travel from the lake to dig their nests in the soil of nearby gardens and Albany Golf Club’s course.
Little is known about the breeding habits and biology of this quiet and elusive turtle that only inhabits the state’s South West.
