Boys charged
TWO boys aged 13 and 14 years have been arrested after a crime spree on Sunday, September 20. Police allege the boys, who were visiting Albany for the weekend, forced entry to homes in Admiral and Sims Streets.
They stole firearms, alcohol, jewellery and electrical goods valued at $11,000, and attempted to steal a vehicle but crashed it into a wall of the home. Police allege they also stole a handbag from a 96-year-old woman in Preiss Street, distracting her by requesting a glass of water.
Police recovered a large quantity of the stolen property, although family heirloom jewellery, valued at approximately $5,600, has not been recovered. Both boys were remanded in custody this week pending their next court appearance in the Perth Children’s Court.
Police assaulted
TWO police officers received minor injuries after being abused and threatened by about 15 people outside an Albany nightclub at about 12.30am on September 20.
A 23-year-old woman was initially arrested, after allegedly punching, kicking, biting and spitting at police. A number of people tried to intervene leading to further arrests. Police Dog Tango effectively assisted in controlling the crowd.
Five adults will appear in the Albany Magistrates Court on October 19.
Shoplifters caught
THREE females, aged 14, 21 and 22 years, were arrested after a shoplifting incident at the Albany Plaza Shopping Centre on September 18.
Police allege the group took clothing and bottles of liquor. They were arrested after descriptions were given to police by witnesses.
