22 Oct, 2009 09:40 AM
ALBANY Police will have a new crime-fighting tool to respond to incidents more quickly and effectively.

Officers are to be equipped with handheld mobile data devices called TADISLite, which has the ability to receive direct task dispatch information.

The devices will provide them with vital information such as name and criminal history records, addresses, offender photographs and vehicle registration details.

They have an inbuilt global positioning system that allows the officer’s location to be displayed on electronic mapping systems improving officer safety, resource management and deployment to community calls for assistance.
