Application rejected

A 28-year-old Albany man with over 30 traffic offences was denied his fourth extraordinary licence in the Albany Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

Steven Angelo Lionetti had his application denied after being caught driving without a licence earlier this year.

Defence lawyer Kevin Prince said his client needed the licence so he could fulfil work requirements.

In rejecting the application, Magistrate Elizabeth Hamilton said she believed Lionetti thought he was “above the law”.

Cannabis seized

POLICE have seized a quantity of cannabis from a driver in Albany.

Police were patrolling in the Chester Pass Road and John Street area and stopped a car to speak with the driver.

A search of the car located cannabis material. Police issued an infringement.

Officers also spoke to a person of interest on another matter in Stirling Terrace. Enquiries revealed she was carrying a metal smoking pipe which she admitted was for smoking cannabis.

Burglaries reported

POLICE are investigating a burglary in Edward Street over the weekend in which offenders entered a house by smashing the lower panel of a plate glass window.

Once inside the offenders rummaged through the house and left a path of damage.

Police are also conducting enquiries into burglaries in Sierra Close and Granada Crescent where offenders entered through rear patios and sliding doors.

In both instances the occupants of the homes were asleep.

The burglars stole several items.

Businesses thefts

POLICE received a complaint that a Schih tzu/Maltese cross puppy valued at $650 was stolen from Pets ’n’ Pieces last Wednesday afternoon.

It was also reported that a black Shwinin mountain bike valued at $450 was stolen from Rose Gardens Caravan Park at Emu Point.
