The 16-year-old has just been selected to take part in the Miss Country Girl Australia national finals.

Selected from 500 entries, Lauren is the only WA representative going to Sydney for the final on October 20.

Lauren said she was very excited and lucky to have the chance.

“To come from Albany and go onto the national level in front of possible talent scouts is such a great opportunity,” she said.

Lauren said she wanted to pursue modelling so she could continue to portray a healthy image.

“I want to put it out there it’s okay to be fit and healthy to make it in modelling - you don’t have to be stick-thin.

Featherstonehaugh offered Lauren help with the loan of a full-length, silk embroidered evening dress.

The national final is being held on board a boat, the Bella Vista, in Darling Harbour.

Miss Country Girl Australia’s national director Katie Jones congratulated Lauren for being chosen for the national finals.

“Lauren is an absolute beauty,” she said. “This is an amazing opportunity for her, as she is going in with the chance to win a place straight into the Miss Universe preliminaries, along with an all-expenses-paid trip to Melbourne for the Cosmopolitan National Model Search.”

Ms Jones said Miss Country Girl Australia was scouting across rural locations primarily for Miss Universe Australia.

“The talent we have already discovered has been phenomenal.”
