GREAT Southern Grammar has been ranked number 10 in the list of the top WA schools for 2009 by the Tertiary Institutions Service Centre (TISC).
It is the only regional school to be included in the list, achieving a median TER of 88.60, which means that half the students were ranked higher.
Headmaster Stuart Marquardt said that once again, the school was extremely proud of the achievements of its graduates.
“The outstanding results achieved by the students of 2009 reflect their diligent approach to study, the excellent work of the teaching staff and a supportive parent community,” he said.
High achievers were: Jessica Brown, the School Dux for 2009, who achieved the highest TER of 98.75; William Pritchard achieved the second highest TER with 97.80 and Jarod Hortin scored the third highest TER with 97.50.
All GSG students who sat four or more TEE subjects have been offered a university place, with 22 of the 30 students who sat WACE exams qualified for entry to UWA by achieving a TER over 80.
Every student achieved Secondary Graduation and a WA Certificate of Education in 2009.
Head of Senior School Simon Midson said he was delighted with the results of the graduating class of 2009.
He said a third of the students who sat the examinations achieved a score over 95, which is the largest contingent ever in that bracket.
