Foundation expands coastal safety role

THE important work done by the Nathan Drew Foundation in highlighting the dangers along the south coast has been recognised by the Albany Port Authority.

The Port presented a cheque for $5,000 to the foundation this week to continue its aim of establishing safety measures along the south coast.

The Foundation says its Silent Sentry, which comprises a cage with a float, has already saved the lives of several people washed into the sea.

The money will be used to establish more Silent Sentries at dangerous locations visited by tourists along the coast.

The Foundation is also providing more vests for anglers which are available for free hire from fishing and general stores.
