Council elections loom

10 Sep, 2009 09:32 AM
AN election for one Councillor in each ward in the City of Albany will take place on Saturday, October 17.

Nominations for the election close today at 4pm.

Voting will be conducted as normal by postal ballot.

Under statewide local government electoral reforms, winners will be decided by a first-past-the-post system.

The councillors whose terms expire after the September meeting are Gordon Kidman (Yakamia), Don Dufty (West), Kim Stanton (Vancouver), Vera Torr (Frederickstown) and John Walker (Kalgan).

Councillors Dufty, Stanton and Torr are running for re-election.
