AN Albany man who threw a child’s scooter at police officers has been given a community-based service order.
Albany Magistrates Court was told on Tuesday how Vincent Eades (43) turned on officers when they attended a disturbance involving his family on June 20.
When police arrived, Eades was wielding a metal rack, then picked up a child’s scooter and hurled it at the officers, hitting one of them.
He threw a second scooter and a metal-framed chair, narrowly missing another officer.
Police used a taser to subdue Eades.
Later in the day, while police were processing Eades at Albany Police Station, he became violent, punched a door and threatened to throw urine at officers.
Eades pleaded guilty to using threatening language and two counts of assaulting a public officer.
Defence counsel Mark Mazur said Eades had a long history of alcohol abuse.
Eades was given a $600 conditional release order, a nine-month community-based order and a recommendation he attend alcohol counselling.
