THE Brig Amity historical precinct has become a front-runner for the location of Albany's Welcome Wall.
WA Museum project director David van Ooran said plenty of opinions had been expressed about the best location for the wall, but general consensus revealed a "leaning" towards near the Amity as it was the first ship with migrants to arrive in Albany.
"A final decision will not be made until we have received all feedback," he said.
Submissions on the location close with the WA Museum next Monday, November 27, and a public announcement will be made soon after.
About 30 people met last week at the Albany Welcome Wall consultation forum, held at the City civic centre, to discuss the future location of the wall.
Mr van Ooran said he was very pleased with the attendance and the feedback received since it was revealed Albany would have a wall.
"The biggest issue raised at the forum was eligibility," he said.
"The main point is that anyone who arrived by sea through Albany is eligible."
