A NEW system aimed at streamlining the way Patient Assisted Travel Scheme (PATS) applications are processed in the Great Southern has been introduced.
The regionalised process will see all PATS applications processed centrally at Albany Hospital.
Hospital operations manager Garry Adams said there would be a more efficient processing of claims and a more consistent PATS procedure for patients across the Great Southern.
“For patients, the PATS application process will not change,” Mr Adams said.
“Patients can continue to lodge their forms in person at their local health service or send them directly to the regional PATS office in Albany.
“The changes are being made behind the scenes and aim to improve efficiency so that patients receive consistent advice on every occasion with applications processed in a timely manner.”
PATS provides assistance to country residents who are required to travel more than 100 km (one way) to access the nearest eligible medical specialist or specialist treatment not available locally
For any queries regarding PATS, contact the local clerk or call 1800 PATS GS (1800 728 747).
