ALBANY’S CCTV cameras will be used to provide evidence for a court case after a man involved in an incident said he had no memory of the events.
Police allege Terry Charles Hulkes (48) waved down a patrol vehicle during the early hours of Sunday, July 19, and entered the vehicle after it had stopped.
It is alleged, when asked to leave the car, Hulkes became involved in a struggle with a police officer, threw a punch and attempted to interfere with the officer’s firearm.
Hulkes, who was charged with assaulting a public officer and obstruction when he appeared in Albany Magistrates Court on Tuesday, will reappear in court on August 18.
In the same court, an Albany man had his bail conditions updated after his defence counsel claimed they were “preposterous”.
Clayton Anthony Thompson (37) had pleaded not guilty to unlawful and indecent assault.
Defence council Kevin Prince said his client’s bail, which stated Thompson must not go within 1km of the complainant, was unfair because the accused “does not know who the woman is” and “one kilometre covered a large suburban area”.
Thompson is next due to appear in court on September 8. Under the bail amendement, he must not go within 20 metres of the complainant.
